The museum is closed between temporary exhibitions.

Reopening on Friday, February 2, 2018, with the exhibition Pastels, from the 16th to the 21st century.

From the Station

  • Take the M2, direction "Croisettes"
  • Get off at the "Bessières" stop

From all directions:

  • Follow the Lausanne bypass motorway (A9, Lausanne-North)
  • Exit at "Lausanne-Vennes" 
  • Drive down towards the city centre, keeping in the right-hand lane until you see the "Sauvabelin" signpost
  • Drive through the Bois de Sauvabelin (woods)
  • After the woods, park in the large car-park at the Place des Fêtes (on the right and left-hand sides of the road)
  • Cross the main road, into the park, and walk down a pretty signposted path from "Le Chalet Suisse" restaurant to the Hermitage (about 6-7 minutes)


  •  Parking du Signal, Place des fêtes de Sauvabelin

Caution: the small car park at the entrance of the Fondation de l’Hermitage is reserved exclusively for the museum staff.


  • Drive down the Route du Signal
  • Park in front of the service station

Coaches are not allowed to enter the driveway.


Disabled visitors may be driven right up to the house but no parking is allowed on the premises except in the small car park at the entrance.
The house is accessible for wheelchairs (ramp and elevator).
For those of restricted walking ability, two wheelchairs are available on loan at the museum (please make advance reservations, tel. +41 (0)21 320 50 01).
The Auditorium is equipped with a magnetic loop for people with hearing aids.
